Inpatient Detox (Medical)

Medical detox means being under 24-7 care in an inpatient facility, such as a detox center or a hospital. The process takes about 3-7 days with meals and a bed provided. Without insurance, medical detox ranges from $1,200 – $2,500 per day. Many locations work with insurance. Hospitals are closed facilities where patients must be admitted/discharged or cannot “walk out.” Inpatient settings are best for those who may also require safety or security from themselves and others. There are three types of inpatient listings for medical detox:

  1. General Medical Hospitals
  2. Behavioral Health Hospitals
  3. Detox Centers

The following is a list of local Arizona behavioral health hospitals and smaller detox centers. Such listings are equipped for substance use issues understanding withdrawal symptoms and co-occurring diagnoses like anxiety or depression. It is possible to detox at general medical hospitals such as a Banner Hospital or Regional Medical Centers, but general hospitals and their emergency rooms are meant for unstable vitals or serious underlying medical conditions – there is a good chance they will send detox patients to a behavioral hospital.

Detoxification alone will not influence overall treatment outcome for sobriety, follow-up treatment and anonymous meetings are needed.
